A Little Change Makes a Big Difference

Our Mission is to alleviate animal suffering caused by neglect, cruelty and ignorance and to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through prevention, intervention, placement, education and example.

We are a 501(c)3 non profit animal foster/rescue organization located in Franklin, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2001, Precious Paws is dedicated to educating the public about proper pet care, preventing cruelty to animals, managing feral cat populations, offering low cost spay neuter services, and placing adoptable animals in forever homes. Our pet selection changes frequently and we maintain a list of available dogs from owners looking to rehome their pets as well as network with other rescues. Together, we can help you find the right pet for your family. Please do not purchase pets from a pet store or a breeder without first taking a moment to do some research (backyard breeders can be just as bad as puppy mills). We always need foster homes and volunteers for a variety of activities: grant writing, feral cat trapping, adoption counseling, post adoption follow-up, etc.

Help SNYP Continue to Help Animals

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Clients – we come to you asking for help today as we find ourselves in need of some assistance. The generous owner of our building we lease for SNYP has decided she will be semi-retiring in a few months. Because she is also a volunteer and supporter of Precious Paws, she has offered us the building at a very fair price, but it is still a price we cannot afford without help from the community. Because we only offer clinics one day per week, and we keep our costs down as low as we can, we cannot qualify for a mortgage for the full building asking price. We are trying to raise $85,000 for Precious Paws to purchase the building SNYP is located in. (more…)

A Happy Ending for Oscar

Oscar, the sweet Jack Russell Terrier that was hit in the head with a blunt object and left for dead in a trash bag in January, has found his forever home.  His new owner, Paul, met Oscar at our April Adopt A Pet at Tractor Supply.  After screening his application and references, we brought Oscar to Paul’s for a home visit.  It was instantly clear that this was a match made in heaven.  Subsequent follow-ups indicate the pair has bonded strongly and Paul reports that Oscar is very happy in his new home.  From the garbage can to a home of his own, it doesn’t get any better than that!!!
